The Main Types and Treatments for Lymphoma
There are more than 70 different types of Lymphoma and these types range in varying levels of their effect on the body. Some od the types are indolent, i.e., have slow growth, whereas others are highly aggressive. Herein, we will talk about the different types of lymphoma and how they have an effect on the body. Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) This is the most common type of Lymphoma. It mainly occurs in older adults. There are several types of treatment methods used to fight Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. These include radiation therapy, immunotherapy, stem cell transplantation, targeted therapy, and chemotherapy. Hodgkin Lymphoma This is also referred to as the Hodgkin’s disease. The chances of curing Hodgkin’s disease are very high especially if it is detected at an early stage. It begins in type-B cells that are present in the bone marrow. Several kinds of treatments are used to cure Hodgkin lymphoma, including immunotherapy, stem cell transplantation, and chemotherapy. Mantle Cell Lymphoma It is an aggressive form of NHL. It is very rare so much so that only around six percent of cases come under this type. It could be very dangerous as Mantel cell lymphoma is commonly not diagnosed at an early stage and is diagnosed at a later stage.
